On Wednesday, April 28, a group of Masuk students through the Interect Club traveled to the Monroe Senior Center to host a bingo that included different spring crafts, snacks, refreshments and more.

Students arrived almost immediately after school, and helped to set up and clean up. They hung flower banners, set up the tables in beautiful displays that included flowers and candy, and set up drinks and snacks.

Students took turns announcing the bingo, but also went to each table and spent time playing and speaking with the members. They were also in charge of teaching the crafts, such as making bunny frams and paper flower bouquets.

“This event is really fantastic, this gives the high schoolers the chance to connect with the seniors but also gives the seniors some connection with other people,” said Lauren Iverson, the leader of the event and adviser of the Interact club. “Being a senior can be a really lonely time, and so I think really having this time together, it’s about the bingo, but it is actually more about making connections, so I really enjoy seeing everyone having a great time.”

The first version of this event took place on Valentine’s Day, and was so popular that it was asked to come back. The club hopes to continue these events, at least if not in the rest of this school year, then definitely starting in the fall.
