The final few months of senior year of high school are known to be the most fun. From graduation to senior pranks, to the little things like yearbook signing, kids across the country look forward to these three months of school. Since kindergarten, we have thought about walking across the stage at graduation, saying goodbye to the people we have grown up with and eventually leaving for college, and now it all caught up to us.

“I couldn’t be more excited for all the events we have coming up in the next few months like prom, the senior banquet, Six Flags, senior assassin and the senior prank,” senior Hannah Fagan said. “I’ve been looking forward to these few months since I first got to high school so I really couldn’t be more excited.”

Fagan, among other seniors at Masuk and beyond, is ecstatic about the end of senior year.

Students are especially excited about these events because of the adrenaline rush that they give you. Hanging out with your friends at prom and the senior banquet, going to Six Flags and ending off the year by shooting your friends with water guns and pranking the Masuk staff is something that every student looks forward to.

However, the end is something that we all wish could wait just a little longer to come. We have all dreamt of graduating and going to college, but most of us wish that we could have just a little more time with the people that we grew up with. We made many friends through school, sports, clubs, and tons of other ways, and now for most of us, we are leaving that all behind and starting new chapters in a few months.

“Of course, I’m excited for the end of senior year. This year has been everything I dreamed of and more, but I wish that it went by slower,” said senior Matt Domenichelli. “I am super excited, but also nervous for the day when we go back and visit our elementary schools, and types of events like that because it really means that everything is coming to an end.”

Masuk alumni David Aguilar touched on how he misses being in high school and gave the seniors some advice: “It flew by very fast, I started to realize time was going by so much faster than I expected towards the end of my senior year, so I started spending more time with the people I love. Senior year definitely lived up to the expectations I had, but I’m definitely a little disappointed that I didn’t enjoy it a little more. Honestly my biggest piece of advice is just think about how you’ll never be back here again. You’ll never be in high school with the people you grew up with again, you’ll never have this much freedom again, so just enjoy it all the best you can.”

The emotions that come out during the next few months are something that none of us really expect. Yes, we have the happiness of all of the fun events in the last few months of our senior year, but there is also the sadness of knowing that our time together is coming to an end.

In the next few months, we will have prom, our senior banquet, graduation and so much more, but we will also have the sad moments. Going back to Monroe El, Fawn Hollow and Stepney where it all started, the last day of school, but most importantly, the moments of reflection. Looking back on our high school years and knowing that we are going off and starting new lives in a couple of months is something that none of us could ever be ready for. But we have a few months left to make the most of our senior year, so enjoy this final stretch.
