Spirit week’s annual Theme Day has always held a permanent spot on Masuk’s rotation, and for good reason. Similarly to Color Day, Theme Day provides another opportunity for students to dress specifically in their grades theme, and show school spirit with their graduating class.
This year, the freshmen were assigned “country vs country club,” the sophomores “celebrities,” juniors “superheroes,” and the seniors their traditional camo.

For their first ever spirit week, the freshmen cleaned up nicely. Splitting down the middle, half of the class represented in cowboy boots and flannels, while the rest pulled up in polos, boat shoes and khakis.

The sophomores took some creative liberties with their theme, “celebrity,” that made the day fun. Some students went for ties and button ups in order to pose as bodyguards, while others chose to dress in the likeness of their favorite rappers, actors, and singers. Walking through the halls, you were likely to spot a member of the class of ‘26 dressed as Adam Sandler, Taylor Swift, and in the case of one particularly enthusiastic participant, Jesus Christ.

The juniors took the school (or Gotham City) by storm in their superhero costumes. Some dressed up superhero t-shirts and hats with colorful tutus and other accessories, while more hardcore fans of the franchises went with full on costumes. Walking through the halls, it was easy to spot many members of the Incredibles, plenty of Batman’s, and some awfully creative Clark Kents.

Sticking to tradition, Masuk’s seniors were nowhere to be found. Or, atleast, they were wearing camo. With the intent of going out with a bang, the graduating class poured as much participation as they could into the theme of their second to last ever spirit day, covered in camo from head to toe.
Although there was no event accompanying today’s theme, many Masuk students found that the effort put into attempting to see over cowboy hats and avoid tripping over superhero capes in the halls was enough activity for them to be totally spent for the day.
A successful day four only leaves us with one more day to spend with Masuk spirit week 2023!
