If you’ve ever been in the awkward position of trying to figure out someone’s age without asking directly, Wednesday would’ve been the day to do it. The theme of the day, Color Wars, had students representing their grade monochrome outfits; freshmen in purple, sophomores in green, juniors in their blue, and finally, seniors in black.

As the easiest theme to dress up for, Color Wars gets the most student participation out of all of spirit week. Color War’s versatility allows students to take the theme as far (or as simply) as they want. Some students scale back, and spend the day in a simple t-shirt or sweater, while others take the theme and run wild.

Masuk junior Kaela Christiano showed her spirit by spending her day decked out to the max in blue. Sporting a tutu, tiara, necklaces, gloves, and blue face paint in the likeness of a member of the blue-man group, Christiano shares that she is “hoping to win the school spirit award,” awarded at the pep rally friday.

The event accompanying Color Wars was the highly anticipated bonfire. Hosted in the baseball field by the far driveway, the bonfire ran 5:30-8:30pm. The allure of the massive fire itself attracted many visitors, but for some students, the real draw was the fleet of food trucks in attendance. Masuk hosted trucks from local establishments such as DrewbaQ, Milkcraft, Dave’s Planet Pizza, and Crazy Taco-Mex.

Students milled about eating, dancing, and chatting while spending hours in the Milkcraft line with their friends. (Students who braved the line describe the reward as “well worth it”). Seeing the majority of the Masuk population afterhours is always an enjoyable experience, and even some off the clock teachers could be spotted amongst the crowds. Some faculty even brought their own children to enjoy the night, and the unifying presence that spirit week brings was felt by all.

The pictures from Color Day really help show how much school spirit we have. The people dressing up as smurfs were a funny addition to this article. I really enjoyed reading this.

Seeing the bonfire through the pictures is amazing and so cool. This article was also very well written and detailed. The pictures also perfectly described and fit the article.

  8. On Wednesday, the raging bonfire with the alluring coolness of Milkcraft and cold drinks were welcomed to help battle the heat, yet watching the fire slowly come from a roaring blaze to a fireplace size was very fun to watch, also while some people were braving the line for ice cream, It was fun to be one of the sneaky ones who got their ice cream before the madness started. Overall it was a very fun event that is worthy to be remembered and continued.

  9. I applaud the people who take the spirit colors to funny, exaggerated lengths. In the end it’s showing that they care about the school and their activities. In regards for the fire I thought it was a great way to get people together and to get them socializing while at the same time food trucks from local businesses came so it also benefited them.
