Masuk Softball extended their win streak to 13 as they defeated the visiting Bunnell Bulldogs by a score of 18-0.
The Panthers got off to a hot start offensively as Natalie Lieto led off with a triple, she finished 4-4 on the day with a triple, double, and two singles. Solid pitching by Julia Bacoulis, who allowed 0 runs through 5 innings, allowed the Panthers to run away with the game by the second inning. The 9 run second inning featured doubles from Sophia Lieto, Ava Moretti, Natalie Lieto, and Emma West-Testo. Sophia Lieto also had a triple in the same inning along with a home run by Julia Bacoulis.
Throughout the next 3 innings the pattern stayed the same for the Panthers. Bacoulis finished with 11 strikeouts and allowed only 1 hit. As a team Masuk finished with 20 hits and 0 errors.
The double digit win is only one of many by the Panthers. It is their 7th win by 10 runs or more so far this season. With only 6 games remaining in the regular season, Masuk is looking to continue their momentum and form another deep playoff run similar to the last few years, but their upcoming games will not be easy.
Their next game is Monday, May 16 at Newtown High School where they will face the 13-3 Nighthawks.
