Masuk Hockey Puts Another Win In The Books

Masuk boys hockey have had an impressive season so far, and last night’s game was no different. Although Newtown played hard, they proved to be no match for our panthers.

Dominating the first period, Masuk Panthers lead 4-0. Goals from AJ Michetti, Christian Palmieri, Nick Kondub, Drew Scalia, and Austin Braiewa kept Masuk in the lead all through the second period. Masuk controlled the rink from the opening, aggressively attacking the Newtown defense. Masuk goaltender Tory Beck didn’t have much to do besides drink Gatorade as the puck spent most of the time on Newtown ice. One of the highlights of the first period was Sophomore Christian Palmieri, who scored his first high school career goal. “I was very relieved because it took a long time.”

When the third period came around, Newtown attempted a comeback with a quick goal, but AJ Michetti closed the game out with his second goal of the game, giving the Panthers a 5 point lead and a final score of 6-1.

Coach Andrew Townsend stated,

“It was a nice win. We got off to a very fast start, we were able to score 4 goals in the first period, which helped set the tone for the rest of the game. It was nice to see our offense play well, but also our defense play well too.”

So far in the season, Masuk is currently 7-3 with a .70 winning percentage. They’ve played a total of ten games, and have many more to come.

Next Wednesday the boys face off against Staples high school in Milford. Don’t miss it and come support your panthers!
