Masuk’s annual Prom Fashion show is one of the high school’s most beloved events. It’s the one night of the year where seniors get to strut their stuff on the fashion runway in gowns and tuxedos. In past years, the fashion show has filled the Masuk auditorium with parents and students all who are excited to watch the seniors walk down the fashion runway, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Prom Fashion Show will be held virtually this year.
Usually, the prom fashion show is held over the course of one night and all seniors partake in the event together. This year was a bit different. Seniors were split up into 7 different groups, each filming their part of the show in different time slots.
“It is upsetting that all of the seniors couldn’t be together when participating in the fashion show but it was still a lot of fun. I am so grateful that we had the opportunity to even hold a prom fashion show this year even if it is different from the ones that were held in the past, “ said senior Kate Hodska.
The groups consisted of 5-7 seniors who walked down the runway individually, stopping frequently to pose and smile towards the few parents in the audience, and the camera filming them. After each senior had their chance to walk, each group performed a skit. Some skits included water guns, James Bond impersonations, and even the cha-cha slide with Mrs. Gaber and Mr. Swenson-the announcers of the prom fashion show.
“I’m so excited to watch the prom fashion show and see what the other models were wearing and what skits the other groups came up with. Remember to buy your tickets!” added Kate Hodska.
Tickets to virtually watch the prom fashion show will be sold in the upcoming weeks. All proceeds raised will be funded towards Masuk’s Post Prom Event.
The prom fashion show has been a tradition at Masuk for years and it will continue to be for years to come. Although the prom fashion show was different this year than it was in the past, the excitement and joy that comes along with it remain the same.
