Coming Soon To a Theater Near You

The universal experience of buttery fingers, hushed chatters and an ice cold Coca-cola at the movie theaters is one that many of us miss due to COVID closures. Fortunately, as businesses are beginning to reopen, teens, adults and children alike will once again be able to see movies on a big screen. While the release of some movies may have been postponed or sent directly to streaming platforms, others are just being released now, hoping to draw viewers to the theaters once again.

There are plenty of upcoming movies to look forward to, and while streaming movies directly is great, it definitely lacks that cinema spark. Most Masuk students are excited to safely visit the theaters again with friends and family, and view the movies they have been waiting to see.

“I had been looking forward to seeing ‘A Quiet Place 2’ with my friends, which I remember was going to come out on March 20 [2020], but then the pandemic happened and now it’s coming out on May 28 [2021]!” said sophomore Carina Gentry, who, along with other fans, is ready to see this movie almost a year late. Almost a year later, but fans are ready!

“I’m excited for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong.’ Growing up, all my brother and I would watch was the King Kong  movies, and I’m a Godzilla fan anyways, so I’m very excited to see that one,” said junior Gavin Mills who looks forward to watching a movie in the theaters with his family.

Besides the movies mentioned above, some others to look out for to watch in theaters with family and friends are :

  • Mortal Kombat (April 16, 2021)
  • Black Widow (May 7, 2021)
  • Spiral (May 21, 2021)
  • F9 (June 25, 2021)
  • Space Jam: A New Legacy (July 16, 2021)
  • Top Gun: Maverick (July 2, 2021)

As people get back in sync with their friends and family and begin doing things outside of their houses again, the classic weekend escape to the movies is back, and hopefully here to stay.
