About Us

The writers and editors of The Masuk Free Press strive to serve the students of Masuk High School, by informing, entertaining and inspiring them. This paper is published by the school for its students and staff and is created by students without censorship from faculty or administration but with dedication to the principles of good journalism and fair play. Student editors decide what deserves publication. Editorials which reflect the majority opinion of the editors of The Masuk Free Press are unsigned; an opinion which reflects the thinking of a staff member not necessarily endorsed by the student editors is signed by the writer. Letters to the editors are encouraged and will be published, limited only by space and relevance to student life. JOSEBE AJA is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Aja enjoys writing about social and political issues as well as current events. Aja hopes to pursue a career in journalism to continue to speak out about social injustices and environmental issues. Aja plays soccer year round on various teams such as Masuk and Revolution United. 

KAYLA ANDREO is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Andreo enjoys writing about light-hearted features and current events. Andreo has not decided what she wants to do in the future but she knows that no matter what she chooses, she wants to make a difference in the world. In addition, Andreo is the president of Memories Matter and is on the Leadership Board for Peer Leadership.

AMANDA CARROLL is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Carroll enjoys writing about fun, exciting and light hearted topics. Carroll hopes to become an actor or doctor in the future. Carroll loves to run, so will be participating in track in the winter and spring and also participates in drama.

LAUREN CHIPDEY is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Chipdey enjoys writing about social, political and environmental issues as well as local and current events. Chipdey loves reading, music and nature. Chipdey hopes to pursue a career in computer sciences and become a software engineer. 

ASHLEY COLBERG is a staff writer for the Masuk free press. Simoulidis enjoys writing about what is going on in the Monroe community, such as sports and seasonal events. Simoulidis hopes to go into a career of professional sports media. Simoulidis also plays basketball and soccer at Masuk.

CALLEIGH COTTER-

ELLIE DEGEORGE is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. DeGeorge enjoys writing about books, what is trending in the Masuk community, and the activities too. DeGeorge hopes to pursue a career in the science field in the future. DeGeorge plays both lacrosse and field hockey for Masuk and is in student government.

CATHERINE DIXON-

KENZI ELTAEIB is a staff writer. Eltaeib enjoys writing about fun, airy, enjoyable topics that teenagers will find entertaining and unobligated to read. Eltaeib hopes to work as a lawyer as she progresses into the future to be a voice for those who don’t have one. Eltaeib loves staying involved in the Masuk Community as she is a part of 5 leadership clubs. Additionally, Eltaeib is referee certified and is a paid soccer referee. She also has over 60 community service hours. Lastly, Eltaeib has dual citizenship, one in the US and one in Libya, where she was born.

KILLIAN IRISH-DONINI is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Irish-Donini enjoys writing about Masuk sports and news about Monroe. Irish-Donini hopes to become a writer at CNN. Irish-Donini is a prominent member of Student Government, and plays lacrosse.

VICTORIA KRYNSKI is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Krynski enjoys writing about her community, the holidays and really anything that is trending or debated. Krynski hopes to continue writing going forward as a getaway but not a job and is looking for a career in the communications field and just to be constantly around people and getting to know new people.

JAYME LAWRENCE is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Lawrence enjoys writing about Masuk events and world news. Lawrence hopes to go into a career in surgery. Lawrence is in Student Government and does indoor track. 

MACKENZIE MAGAS is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Magas enjoys writing feature articles regarding current events and their relation to Masuk. Magas hopes to pursue a career in journalism and media. Magas plays soccer throughout the year for Masuk and Revolution United. 

BRIDGET PFAU is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Pfau enjoys writing about issues of the senior class and also fun, lighthearted issues that help raise the morale of the readers. Pfau plays soccer at Masuk during the fall, and has previously participated in both the Girls Lacrosse Team here at Masuk and the Girls Indoor Track team. Pfau is also a part of many clubs here at Masuk, including the Book Club and Spanish Club, not to mention the Peer Leadership Club and the Medical Club. Pfau hopes to continue her journalism career in college and take courses to help improve her writing abilities.

GRACE SHEEHAN is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Sheehan enjoys writing about the school community and activities. Sheehan plays soccer year-round and on the team at Masuk.

CHRISTOS SIMOULIDIS is a staff writer for the Masuk free press. Simoulidis enjoys writing about what is going on in the Monroe community, such as sports and seasonal events. Simoulidis hopes to go into a career of professional sports media. Simoulidis also plays basketball and soccer at Masuk.

EMMA SMITH is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Smith enjoys writing about debatable teen topics. Smith hopes to find out what her future is like because currently, Smith’s future is undecided. Smith loves to irish dance and is thirty-third in the nation as of 2021.

SARAH VERRASTRO is a staff writer for the Masuk Free Press. Verrastro enjoys writing about books and literature related to encouraging the Masuk community to read. She hopes to pursue a career in creative writing or publishing. Verrastro is also a dancer on the Masuk Dance Team.
