The music industry is about to welcome back a beloved indie rock band. “The Neighborhood”, a popular band known for their hit song “Sweater Weather” has promised a new album after they had a 5 year break from producing.

Music lovers around the world come together to celebrate the return of vocalist Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Zachary Abels and Jeremiah Freedman, bassist Micheal Margott, and drummer Brandon Fried. The band returns from their hiatus on their ten year anniversary of releasing their first album “I Love You”.

As many people wonder what sparked the comeback, the band released a statement before any rumors managed to get out. Their drummer, Brandon Fried, recently completed his recovery program to help with his substance abuse. As a way to celebrate this new chapter in his life they chose to get back in the studio and carry on with their music careers.

Fans accept them back with open arms, proud of Fried for fixing his past mistakes and the band for gaining back the recognition they deserve.

 Sophomore Cameron Covey says, “This can be inspirational to many others since it shows how even when things go wrong you can always start again, truly an inspiring feeling”.

Everybody who is interested in the band and their music can barely hold their excitement for the comeback, people have even started predicting and counting down to when they think their album will be released. Many fans have nothing but high hopes for the band. 

 “The Neighborhood is an amazing band and it’s thrilling to wait and see what they will plan next,” said Covey.

As time passes fans are noticing more and more hints at the album and potential tour. Supporters have noticed planes flying above towns with a banner including their band’s iconic logo waving in the wind, along with hanging posters which show their logo, the date 10/30 and the word “Lovebomb”. 

Many fans believe the date on the poster represents the day they will release the album.  The main vocalist Jesse Rutherford has posted on his own social media multiple pictures of the band’s studio along with their tour bus. Teasing fans even more with the idea of a tour. 

Aside from leaving clues, The Neighborhood has posted on multiple social media platforms teasing a snippet of a new song they’re writing. Fans are theorizing that this snippet will be revealed to be a new single called “Lovebomb”, while some think “Lovebomb” will be the album’s name. On top of this, The Neighborhood released a couple of names of the songs which will be in the album such as “Maniac”, “Jacket”, and “Every Time”.

As exciting as this all may seem, what does this mean in terms of pop culture? 

“I believe that their return may even inspire other iconic creators to make a comeback, after all, in their prime they all must’ve taken inspiration off each other’s work to create such an empowering moment in pop culture” said sophomore Olivia Cabrera. 

Many fans feel the same way, expressing their excitement for the band’s comeback online using platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram.

Supporters of the band show their support online by continuing to listen to The Neighborhoods music on streaming platforms and posting how they hope the album comes sooner rather than later along with saving up money for tour tickets. Past tours have been a total hit with the band selling out multiple stadiums. 

“The Neighborhood is famous for a reason, I’m sure the tour tickets will sell out within minutes, the group is incredibly talented after all,” said Cabrera.

This band has created a safe place for many people whether they relate to the lyrics or simply like to nod their head along to the music. 

Sophomore Elliott McEvoy says “Their music got me through a rough patch, it means a lot to me that they are willing to start producing again”. 

Whether a new album happens or not fans are still ecstatic to see their  favorite band back in action.As more and more information on the comeback gets released, more people become excitedly impatient and wishing The Neighborhood a successful and smooth return back into the public eye.
