Masuk Boys Varsity Soccer is off to an exciting start! On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the team celebrated their first goal of the season during the home opener game against Ansonia, scored by senior Nicholas Rodriguez. With the help of their teammates and the cheers of the electric crowd, senior Cash Dewey and sophomore Sam Giampe were able to score another two goals with just 10 minutes left in the game, securing a 3-2 win. I spoke with senior Matthew Cerrato, who has played varsity since his sophomore year: “We definitely showed a lot of effort, especially in the second half because we were down literally the entire half, but we kept up our intensity the entire time”. Though shorthanded for the last 30 minutes of the game, the Panthers’ tenacious effort led to their hard-fought victory. The season has just begun, and from the looks of it, you won’t want to miss the rest!
