This past Wednesday, the Masuk auditorium was filled with excitement as students, faculty and community members gathered for the annual Prom Fashion Show. This tradition not only showcases the latest trends in prom attire, but also serves as a spirited fundraiser for the highly anticipated post-prom.

The show was graciously sponsored by Winged Monkey, David’s Bridal and Sabrina Style, who all provided the dresses for the evening, as well as Camillo’s Tuxedo Specialist who provided the tuxedos.

Before the show, a wide selection of raffle prizes were laid out for attendees to buy tickets, and take a shot at winning prizes such as the relaxation and gardening baskets. An auction was also held for various prizes, such as Principal Swensen’s parking spot, and reserved seats for this year’s graduation ceremony.

As the lights dimmed and anticipation peaked, the girls took to the stage, showcasing their long gowns while the boys modeled the first round of tuxes. Emcees Principal Swenson and Diane Gaber introduced the models and gave descriptions of each gown and tux being presented. Swenson and Gaber also shared fun facts about each of the models, including their favorite foods and celebrities, how they spend their free time and what colleges they committed to. This allowed the audience to get to know and celebrate the senior class.

Despite the inevitable nerves that accompany a first performance in front of an audience, the sense of community among the seniors served as a reassuring presence.

“My favorite part was definitely the comradery between all of the models,” said senior participant Jonathon Ganino. “It was very nerve-wracking before I went on stage with my partners, but I got so much reassurance from everyone backstage encouraging me. Once I went on stage, I felt like I was performing and it felt amazing.”

After the first act, there was a brief intermission for last-minute raffle ticket purchases, and act two soon followed. During the second act, the models returned to the stage to display their short dresses and next set of tuxedos. Some groups also performed a skit while on stage.

“My partner was Lee, and when we were up on stage we did our handshake that we came up with three years ago,” said senior Samantha Norko. “We decided on that handshake because it’s something we’ve always done together since we first started dating and it just brings us joy.”

At the beginning of act two, the audience was surprised by a spontaneous prom-posal put on by senior James Dukowsky for senior Emme Broderick.

“I volunteered at the fashion show and was helping out backstage. I helped with the promposal by bringing out the poster, crown and flowers,” said senior Alexandra Hernandez. “James was so excited to ask Emme, it was really cute and the audience loved it too. Everyone was clapping and cheering for them.”

Though the promposal was a tough act to follow, the rest of the models did not disappoint.

As the event drew to a close, the models dashed down the aisles of the auditorium, tossing streamers into the air. Dressed in bright neon colors and adorned with glow sticks, they made their way to the stage and danced along to the music.

After the finale, the models and emcees took a moment to acknowledge some of the dedicated PTO parents who worked hard behind the scenes to organize the event, a gesture that underscored the importance of community support and collaboration.

“It definitely ended up being so much fun. My favorite part was just having fun with my friends, getting ready together, dressing up and looking pretty,” said senior Kendyl Roelofsen. “It was just a really great experience to have senior year.”

The event was a resounding success, showcasing the latest trends in prom attire and celebrating the spirit of our Masuk seniors. As prom draws near, we eagerly anticipate another memorable celebration and look forward to yet another exciting Prom Fashion Show next year.
